Jordan Love gets the keys to Packers offense

There are many x-factors fans will be eager to watch this summer, but none are bigger than the Packers’ newest starting quarterback. There’s no looking back anymore. Jordan Love is the future in Green Bay.

It’s tough for expectations not to be high for a QB of the Packers after seeing Aaron Rodgers somehow gracefully step into Brett Favre’s cleats as a former first-round pick who also had to bide his time.

Can Love somehow repeat history? There’s really no telling how good he can be until he actually gets out there and starts firing. With just one career start, Love may not have much experience, but he’s far from a rookie. We’ll see how he looks in camp, but he’ll be relying on a largely unproven group of pass-catchers too.

Who emerges next to Christian Watson?

The Packers have a star in the making with Christian Watson. With a chance to firmly establish himself as the No. 1 target in Green Bay, we’ll be eager to see if Watson becomes more consistent in his second season.

But who’s stepping up next to the 6-foot-5 athletic freak? The Packer have a number of options, from fellow second-year pro Romeo Doubs to second-round rookie Jayden Reed. Or even tight end Luke Musgrave. In a perfect world, Love finds some level of chemistry with each of his options, but as we’ve seen in recent years, that isn’t always the case right away.

With a group lacking experience, the competition for targets is wide open in Green Bay. That could either be a really good thing or a really bad one. But there’s something about the unknown that only adds to the fun while following along in training camp.

Pack’s trio of recent first-round picks provide excitement

Even though quarterbacks are always the biggest talking point in the NFL, and especially so in Green Bay this summer, as we know, the pressure isn’t entirely on Jordan Love’s shoulders. The Packers do have a defense too, and it’s obvious they place a high priority on adding talent to their front seven.

Just in the past two drafts alone, we’ve seen the Packers spend three first-round picks between Quay Walker, Devonte Wyatt, and Lukas Van Ness. The trio are all 25 or younger, and could quickly develop into impact players, helping a 17th-ranked defense from 2022 take a step forward this season.

Have the Packers found a solution at safety?

After providing steady play for three seasons, Adrian Amos dropped off a bit last year for the Packers. The front office didn’t bring him back this offseason and Amos became part of the former Packers to join Gang Green in New York.

Aside from adding Jonathan Owens and Tarvarius Moore in free agency, the Packers didn’t do much to replace Amos. The two have a combined 92 games of NFL experience and former first-round pick Darnell Savage still remains on the roster but he needs a strong effort to claim the starting role.

With competition the name of the game in training camp, keeping an eye on who receives first-string opportunities will be one of the top storylines in Green Bay. Even if it’s not a high-profile position, seeing which safeties earn more snaps than others should be one area fans keep a close eye on this summer.
