NBA trade rumors: Latest buzz on James Harden, Damian Lillard and more

Bookmark. Save. Do your thing. We will be providing constant updates on this page as it relates to the biggest NBA trade rumors with the 2023 NBA offseason now here.

Philadelphia 76ers’ asking price for James Harden

The Philadelphia 76ers have received multiple inquiries into James Harden since the All-Star guard requested, with the Los Angeles Clippers and New York Knicks emerging as suitors. However, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported over the weekend that 76ers’ executive Daryl Morey is setting the asking price “extremely high” for Harden.

Of course, NBA teams know this is a process with Morey. He famously makes demands and asks for things from NBA teams in trade talks that no one is willing to meet, then eventually comes back to them. One thing is clear, it’s expected to be a long process so Harden isn’t going anywhere for some time.

Portland Trail Blazers’ stance on Damian Lillard trade

Despite the Miami Heat emerging as favorites to land Damian Lillard, the All-Star point guard and the reigning Eastern Conference champions may not get what they want. According to Adrian Wojnarowski, Portland is very willing to trade Lillard but it is not going to cooperate with what he wants. With the Utah Jazz among the interested teams, Portland will take everyone’s calls and prioritize the offer that offers the best combination of cap relief, young players and draft picks.

Meanwhile, the Minnesota Timberwolves are another team that have put in a call to Portland for Lillard. Here’s how that hypothetical blockbuster might look like.

Damian Lillard requests trade, could be headed East

In what has to be considered a stunning turn of events in the Pacific Northwest, Lillard has requested a trade. Various reports indicate that the seven-time All-Star has informed the Blazers’ brass that the Miami Heat are his preferred destination. The expectation is that Portland will work with Dame to grant his request.

A more recent report from Chris Haynes of Turner Sports indicates that a third time might get involved in what would be a blockbuster. Perhaps, the Blazers don’t want Tyler Herro as part of a package given that they are wing heavy with Anfernee Simons, Shaedon Sharpe and rookie Scoot Henderson.

James Harden opts in, demands trade

In a shocking move, former MVP James Harden opted into his contract for next season and will not hit free agency. Equally as shocking, he has technically requested to be sent to another team this summer. It’s the third time in less than three years that Harden has “requested” a trade.

NBA trade rumors point to Harden potentially joining the New York Knicks or Los Angeles Clippers. Although, other teams are going to be in the mix for the veteran guard.

NBA trade rumors point to potential Jerami Grant trade

The Blazers’ decision to sign star forward Jerami Grant to a five-year, $160 million contract early in NBA free agency was surprising. It came mere days before Damian Lillard requested a trade from the organization.

Now, reports are surfacing indicating that Grant could actually be flipped by Portland. The 29-year-old three-and-D wing averaged 20.5 points on 40% shooting from distance a season ago. It remains to be seen if his contract will make a trade more difficult.

Zion Williamson not moved during 2023 NBA Draft

Things have spiraled out of control between Williamson and the New Orleans Pelicans’ organization. At this point, there is said to be no relationship between the two sides. One report went as far as far to say that it’s a near guarantee Williamson would be moved ahead of the NBA Draft. That did not happen.

Williamson, 22, has played in all of 114 games in four NBA seasons. That includes just 29 over the past two seasons. And while he’s elite when on the court (25.8 PPG, 7.0 RPG, 3.6 APG), these injuries are concerning. Williamson also inked a five-year, $194.3 million extension last summer. As of right now, things seem to be in a holding pattern on this front.

NBA trade rumors: Chicago Bulls asking price for Zach LaVine revealed

The 28-year-old LaVine is a surprise inclusion in summertime NBA trade rumors. Chicago inked him to a five-year, $215.2 million contract last summer. The idea was to team LaVine up with DeMar DeRozan and compete or a conference title. Instead, the Bulls fell in the Play-In Tournament.

With Chicago actively engaging other teams in LaVine trade talks, we’re hearing what it might take or another squad to land the All-Star. According to K.C. Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago, that includes a young player and multiple future first-round picks. LaVine has been brilliant over the past four seasons, averaging 25.5 PPG, 4.7 RPG and 4.5 APG on 48% shooting during that span.

Sacramento Kings chasing after Toronto Raptors stars

Fresh off their best season in a quarter-century, the Kings are not sitting idly by. They were linked to Bradley Beal in NBA trade rumors before he was sent to the Phoenix Suns. Now, Sacramento is chasing after Toronto Raptors forwards Pascal Siakam and OG Anunoby.

Neither player should be a surprise in that the Kings are looking for frontcourt help to team up with Domantas Sabonis and Keegan Murray. Perhaps, the Kings could offer up a package surrounding guard Davion Mitchell and future draft picks to get this done.

Atlanta Hawks placing Dejounte Murray on the trade block?

Bleacher Report revealed in June that the Atlanta Hawks could consider trading one-time All-Star Dejounte Murray. The veteran guard was acquired in a blockbuster trade last year, however, the team is concerned about an impending $17 million luxury tax bill if they don’t shed some payroll and he is an interesting trade chip.

Furthermore, Murray could be available because there is a belief he may opt out of his current deal next summer and be out of their price range on the free agent market.

NBA trade rumors involving Tobias Harris

We’ve read reports about the Philadelphia 76ers looking to trade Tobias Harris for well over a year. It might now come to fruition. One report indicates that there’s an expectation Harris will not be in Philadelphia next season.

However, it also might be hard for the 76ers to find a trade partner given his $38.2 million salary for the 2023-24 season. A team like the San Antonio Spurs that could be seeking salary relief for next summer makes sense. In this scenario, the likes of Doug McDermott, Zach Collins and Devonte’ Graham head to Philadelphia. Though, that’s unlikely to be much of a needle mover for Philly.
